Nimbus

Andreea Iulia Scridon

I took off my nimbus,
laid it down on the carpet
and smiled in slant:
here you are,
this is my home,
I said,
as befits the weary traveller

but perhaps instead
I should have broken the orb in two
so that the grace that surrounds us
would begin to grow contours
like a blanket
over a hunchbacked child
